Rideshare Drop-Off for Escape Rooms in Colorado Springs

Rideshare Drop-Off for Escape Rooms in Colorado Springs

Guests arrive by rideshare at an escape-room entrance

The easiest way to use a rideshare for an escape room in Colorado Springs is to enter the full street address of your location in the app, check the pin before you confirm, and message your driver if the entrance is hard to see. Do the same in reverse afterward: request your ride only when your whole group is ready to walk out. We run rooms at two addresses, 1520 N Union Blvd and 3860 Village 7 Rd, so make sure you know which one you booked before anyone types a destination.

This guide covers what to check before you set the drop-off, the curb rules that apply in the city, how to coordinate a group of 6 to 10 people, and how to stay safe when you meet your driver.

TL;DR

  • Confirm your booking location first: we have two addresses, 1520 N Union Blvd and 3860 Village 7 Rd, and the rooms are split between them.
  • Use the street address as your destination, check the pin, and move it if the app suggests a safer or easier spot.
  • Never ask a driver to stop on a sidewalk, crosswalk, in front of a driveway or at a yellow curb. Those are off limits under city code.
  • Order the ride home only when everyone is ready, and agree on one pickup spot as a group.
  • Match the car size to your group. Rooms here take up to 10 players, so you may need two vehicles.

Before you set the drop-off: what to check

Most late arrivals in escape rooms come from small mix-ups, not from traffic. A few checks, done at home, remove nearly all of them.

Which location did you book?

Our rooms are split across two Colorado Springs addresses. According to our rooms page, Past to the Future, Stranger 80’s Vol. 1 - The Basement, Flight of Deception: The Royal Takeover, Space: Knocked Off Course and Overnight at the Museum are at 1520 N Union Blvd. Stranger 80’s Vol 2 - The Cabin, Flying Dutchman, Dinner at Capone’s and The Great Gamenight Escape are at 3860 Village 7 Rd. Check your confirmation for the exact room and address before you open the app. The two places are not interchangeable, and a driver who takes you to the wrong one costs you game time.

Does the pin match the door?

Apps place a default pin based on the address, and that pin can land on the wrong side of a building or on a street with no safe place to stop. Uber’s pickup guidance says its app flags restricted and illegal pickup locations and that riders can move the pin to a different pickup spot. The same habit helps on drop-off: zoom in on the map, look for the building’s entrance and parking lot, and tell the driver where you want to get out.

How early should you arrive?

Aim to be at the door about 15 minutes before your start time. That gives a buffer for a slow ride, a restroom stop and the pre-game briefing. If you are traveling from a hotel, add a few minutes for the driver to arrive, since the car does not appear the moment you tap the button. For more on pacing your visit, our escape room checklist for first-timers walks through what to do from arrival to first puzzle.

How many people, how many cars?

Our rooms are built for different group sizes. Stranger 80’s Vol. 1 and Overnight at the Museum are listed for 2 to 8 players, Flight of Deception for 2 to 7, Past to the Future and Space for 2 to 6, and The Great Gamenight Escape for 2 to 10. A group of 8 will not fit in a standard rideshare car, so decide in advance whether you are splitting into two cars and who will ride with whom. Choose one person to message the others when each car is a few minutes out so nobody is standing alone in a parking lot.

Curb rules that affect where your driver can stop

A driver who pulls over in the wrong place risks a ticket and creates a hazard for you. Knowing the basics lets you ask for a better spot instead of insisting on the closest one.

Colorado Springs’ municipal code, section 10.12.101, prohibits stopping, standing or parking on sidewalks, within five feet of driveways, in intersections, on crosswalks, within twenty feet of an intersection crosswalk, and beside yellow-painted curbs or reserved zones. In plain terms:

Where OK for a quick drop-off?
Parking lot of the building, away from the drive lane Usually the best option when the lot is open to the public
Marked parking space or legal curb Yes, if it is not signed or painted otherwise
Yellow curb or reserved space No
In front of a driveway No
Crosswalk or just before an intersection No
Travel lane with traffic behind you No, even for a few seconds

If the pin puts you on a busy street, message the driver and suggest the nearest legal stop or the lot entrance. The Governors Highway Safety Association recommends safe, designated areas away from highways for pickups and drop-offs, because traffic is fast and space to pull over is limited. The same logic applies on any fast arterial road: a 20-yard walk is safer than a rushed exit into a travel lane.

The city is also looking at curb use in its busiest areas. A draft Parking and Curb Management Plan recommends actively managing curbside space in Downtown and Old Colorado City, so rules in those areas may tighten over time. Watch posted signs rather than assuming last year’s habits still apply.

Coming from or going to the airport

Many of our guests are visitors, and some of them head straight from a flight. Airport rules differ from street rules. According to the city, passengers can be dropped off or picked up curbside on both terminal levels, but no waiting or parking is allowed and vehicles must not be left unattended. Rideshare pickups are made at the TNC Loading Zone on the Arrivals level, and drop-offs are at your airline on the Departures level, according to the airport’s rideshare driver information. Drivers waiting for requests have to use a separate staging zone. So if you are heading to the airport after your game, expect your driver to pull up at your airline’s curb and keep moving.

Arriving as a group without the chaos

A group of friends, a birthday party or a corporate team has the same rideshare problem: several people, several cars, one start time.

  1. Name a point person. One person confirms the address, the room and the arrival time, and posts them in the group chat.
  2. Share the destination as an address, not a nickname. “The escape room on Union” is not a destination. Paste the street address.
  3. Stagger no more than necessary. If you split into two cars, leave at the same time so everyone lands within a few minutes of each other.
  4. Use the in-app message. Riders and drivers can message in the app before the trip and briefly talk near the destination to agree on the best spot for everyone. A single short message such as “We’ll be at the main entrance by the lot” saves a lot of circling.
  5. Wait inside, not at the curb. Once you arrive, check in and let the rest of the group come to you.

Planning a bigger outing, like a team event with a dinner afterward? A transportation logistics checklist written for event venues covers the same questions you will face: how many vehicles, who arrives when, and where each car stops. The scale is different, but the planning steps carry over to any group outing. For a family-sized version, see our family escape room planning guide.

Drop-off timing

Do not rely on being dropped at the last minute. Ride times can swing with weather, events and rush hour, and a driver stuck behind a crash on Union or I-25 cannot make up the minutes. Build in a 15 to 20 minute cushion, and if your ride is late, call us at the number on your booking confirmation so we know you are on the way.

Getting picked up after the game

The end of an escape room is when groups lose track of time. You are celebrating, taking photos, replaying the puzzles you almost missed. That is a good moment to hold off on the app.

Uber advises riders not to request a ride until they are ready, since drivers wait on the clock and may cancel if no one shows. For a group, “ready” means everybody has their coats and bags, the photos are done, and the group knows where it is meeting the car.

Here is a simple routine for the ride home:

  • Request when you are in the lobby, not while still in the room.
  • Pick one pickup spot and set the pin there. Choose a legal, well-lit spot near the entrance rather than the curb of a busy road.
  • Share the car details (color, make, plate, driver name) with the group.
  • Stay inside until the car is a minute away, especially in cold weather. Colorado Springs evenings can be cold much of the year.

If the pin wants to send your driver to a street where stopping is not allowed, adjust it. Riders can move the pin, and the app will usually show you which spots are flagged.

Safety steps when you meet your driver

Rideshare is generally routine, but a few habits make every trip smoother, particularly at night when escape room groups tend to leave.

  • Check the car and driver before you get in. Compare the plate, vehicle and driver photo in the app against what is in front of you.
  • Give your name and confirm the destination. Uber recommends that drivers ask the rider’s name to make sure the right person is in the vehicle and confirm the destination before starting. If a driver does not ask, tell them your name first and see whether it matches the trip.
  • Use Spotlight when the lot is busy. The app’s Spotlight feature lights your phone screen a specific color so the driver can pick you out of a crowd.
  • Confirm the drop-off spot out loud. Uber tells drivers to ask riders where they want to be dropped off, even when the app shows a destination, and to check the spot is convenient. As a rider, say “The main entrance, by the lot, please.”
  • Exit on the curb side when you can, and check for cyclists and cars before opening a door.
  • Never stand in a travel lane to wave a driver down. Step back to a sidewalk or the building entrance.

A note on parking and driving yourself

If some in your party drive, they can still pair with rideshare users. The usual arrangement is that drivers park and meet everyone at the door, while rideshare passengers take the drop-off. Avoid leaving a car where signs restrict parking, and follow the same city rules above for sidewalks, driveways and crosswalks. If you are not sure whether a spot is legal, park in the building’s lot instead of gambling on a street space. If your plans include a drink or two at dinner afterward, rideshare is a sensible choice for everyone, and you do not have to decide at the last moment: set the plan before the game.

Perspective: why we tell guests to plan the ride first

We have watched thousands of groups walk through our doors, and the ones who arrive relaxed are almost always the ones who planned the last mile. Our rooms are always private, so your group has the room to itself for the hour. That is a real advantage, and it also means your start time is yours. We would rather you spend it solving the puzzles than waiting on a driver.

We run two locations, with different rooms at each, and that is why we ask every guest to check the address on the booking confirmation. Our 13 themed rooms include a real airplane and a pirate ship, and our biggest rooms take groups of up to 10. For groups that size, rideshare is often the easiest option, because nobody has to hunt for parking or stay sober as the designated driver.

Our advice is simple: pick your room, confirm the address, set the pin, and request your ride home only when the last photo is taken. If you are traveling to Colorado Springs for the weekend, a rideshare lets you enjoy the city without renting a car just for one night.

FAQ

Can a rideshare driver wait for me while I play?

It is better not to ask. An escape room runs about an hour, and a driver waiting at the curb may be stopping somewhere they are not allowed to stand. City code restricts stopping in places like crosswalks, driveways and yellow curbs, so a waiting car can draw a ticket. Request a new ride when you finish.

Where should I ask the driver to drop us off?

Use the full street address of your booked location and ask for the main entrance or the building’s parking lot, as long as it is open to the public. If the pin shows a different spot, zoom in and move it. Message the driver if you want a particular stop.

What if our group is too big for one car?

Split into two cars and leave at the same time. Name one person to track both rides and message the group when each car is close. Some of our rooms take up to 10 players, so plan for this if you have a larger party.

When should I order the ride home?

Order it when your group is in the lobby and ready to leave, not while you are still in the room. Uber advises riders not to request a ride until they are ready, because drivers wait on a clock. Agree on one pickup spot before you send the request.

Is it safe to use rideshare at night after a game?

Use the same habits as any evening trip. Check the plate and driver in the app, give your name, confirm the destination, and wait inside until the car is close. Traveling in a group makes this easier, since you can leave together.
